Privacy Policy
In short: no data is collected. Photos and location are processed entirely on your device, and the only third party involved is Apple Maps.

Where I Look? is built to work without collecting your data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking inside the app. Your photos, their metadata, and your live location are read and processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded anywhere — we don't operate a server that could receive them. The only third-party service used inside the app is Apple Maps, described below.
What the app processes
To draw the field-of-view cone for a photo, Where I Look? reads that photo's GPS coordinates, compass heading, and focal length directly from its EXIF data on your device. In Live Mode, it reads your device's current GPS position and compass heading to show the same cone in real time. In both cases this data is used only to render the map view, is not logged, cached, or stored beyond what's needed to display it, and never leaves your device. Photo library, location, and compass permissions only let the app read this data locally — granting them does not give us, or anyone else, access to it.
Legal basis: because this processing happens exclusively on your device and nothing is transmitted to us, we do not act as a data controller for it under the GDPR — it is your own personal use of the app (Art. 2(2)(c) GDPR, household exemption). To the extent it were ever considered processing on our part, it would be necessary to provide the functionality you use the app for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Apple Maps
The map shown in the app is provided by Apple Maps (MapKit), the only third-party service Where I Look? uses. Displaying the map and loading map tiles requires an internet connection, during which your device communicates directly with Apple's servers — that traffic never passes through us, since we don't have a server to route it through. It is covered by Apple's own privacy policy, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Legal basis: offering the map is necessary to provide the app's core functionality (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The resulting data exchange between your device and Apple's servers is Apple's own processing as an independent controller, governed by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one.
This website
whereilook.meis.space is a static website with no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party embeds or trackers of any kind. Like virtually any website, though, the server that delivers these pages automatically records a standard set of technical metadata for each request — for example the requesting device's IP address, the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, the amount of data transferred, the browser type, version, and operating system, and the referring page, if any. This happens automatically at the web server level, is required to deliver the page and keep the site secure and stable, is not merged with any other data, and is not used to identify individual visitors.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
If you're in the EU/EEA, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability, and you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In practice, since Where I Look? doesn't collect or store personal data beyond the server log data described above, there's typically nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete — but reach out any time and we'll look into it.
