Why does the app need location and compass access?
Live Mode draws the cone from your device's current GPS position and compass heading, so it needs both permissions to work. For a photo already in your library, no live permission is needed — the location and heading are read from the photo's own EXIF metadata instead.
Why can't I see a cone for some of my photos?
Drawing the cone needs three things from a photo's EXIF data: GPS coordinates, a compass heading (GPSImgDirection), and a 35mm-equivalent focal length. Screenshots, edited images, and photos taken with location services off are often missing one or more of these. When that happens, Where I Look? shows a plain pin or a short explanation instead of guessing.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. There's no account and no server. Your photos, their metadata, and your live location are read and processed entirely on your device.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Reading a photo's location and heading, and tracking your live GPS position and compass, all work fully offline. The map itself is Apple Maps, so loading new map tiles still needs a connection.
Why is it iOS only?
The app is built around Apple Maps and iOS's photo library APIs. There's no Android version at the moment.
When will it be available in the App Store?
